Reserved and coy, Muette is a table lamp inspired by the ready-made clothe universe. Textile envelope plays with the curved aluminium flexibility for fitting naturally around the base, and wear the light source. Muette can thus easily wash herself or switch her outfit. At the outskirts of her envelop, a large padded collar conceals a zip. Once opened, Muette reveals her inner lines and the collar can be formed. Besides allowing Muette to graphically express herself, the collar and the zip gives a natural rigidity permitting to adjust the brightness of the light depending of the use. With this object the question of the gestural patrimony of individuals arises. By exploiting moves usually geared towards ready-made clothe universe, Muette meets users inconcious and triggers a silent interaction between them and her.

With the idea of designing a versatile and adaptable object, Muette favors the saving of components and simple assembling systems in order to allow the user to inter-change the components on his own. Each lamp is composed of three elements assembled in a natural way. Thought as a collection of four table lamps, Muette can thus actually take the appearance of sixty-four different lamps. Particular attention is drawn to the narrative and affective dimension of the object. It is the story of daily gestures; like forming a shirt collar in the morning or zipping up a coat in the winter. By applying these gestures to the context of the lamp, it stimulates the gestural memory of the individual who reproduce gestures in a completely different situation. In the manner of a Proust madeleine, a silent interaction is then discovered between object and individual.
